What is the UCMAS Program?
UCMAS (Universal Concept of Mental Arithmetic System) is a unique child development programme that uses the centuries-old abacus to stimulate both hemispheres of the brain. Also known as mental maths training, UCMAS does not just teach children how to calculate, it transforms how they think, learn, and process information.
Designed for children between the ages of 4 and 13, the programme harnesses the critical window of brain development to build foundational cognitive skills that last a lifetime. With a presence in over 80 countries and more than 6,000 centres worldwide, UCMAS is trusted by millions of parents across the globe.
In Telangana, UCMAS operates 70+ centres across Hyderabad and the surrounding districts, bringing world-class abacus classes and a rewarding after-school activity to young learners in the region.
How the Program Works
The UCMAS learning journey follows a structured three-phase approach that takes children from the physical tool to powerful mental computation.
Physical Abacus Training
Children begin by learning to use a physical abacus, understanding bead positions and arithmetic operations through hands-on manipulation. A dedicated thumb, index and middle finger technique guides precise, consistent bead handling from day one.
Mental Visualization
Gradually, students transition from the physical tool to visualizing the abacus mentally, performing calculations entirely in their mind. Regular listening exercises alongside visual practice strengthen this shift, engaging both auditory and visual learning.
Speed & Accuracy Mastery
With consistent practice, children achieve remarkable speed and accuracy in mental arithmetic, often surpassing calculator-level computation.

Program Modules & Structure
The UCMAS curriculum is divided into four progressive modules, each building on the one before. Children attend two hours of classes per week.
Foundation Module
12 monthsFoundation Level (7 years or below), Basic Level, Elementary A Level
Refine Module
10 monthsElementary B and Intermediate A Levels
Ascend Module
12 monthsIntermediate B, Higher A and Higher B Levels
Masters Module
4 monthsAdvance Level, followed by Grand Level 1 and Grand Level 2 (optional, duration additional)
Time Commitment
Two hours of classes per week at your nearest centre. Every level ends with a graded assessment and certificate, so you can track your child's progress clearly.
UCMAS Course Fees in Hyderabad
Fees are paid level by level rather than as a monthly subscription. What a level costs depends on how long that level runs.
| Level | Length | Fee for the level | Monthly equivalent |
|---|---|---|---|
| Levels 1 to 3 | 6 months each | ₹7,500 | ₹1,250/month |
| Levels 4 to 8 | 4 months each | ₹5,000 | ₹1,250/month |
A six-month level costs ₹7,500 and a four-month level costs ₹5,000, so both work out to the same ₹1,250 a month. That monthly figure is given for comparison only. It is not an amount collected every month: the fee for a level is collected for that level as a whole.
A one-time registration fee applies when a child first joins. It covers registration, the starter kit including the abacus, and the course materials, and is never charged again.
Your nearest centre can confirm the current registration amount and the fee for the level your child is starting.
